Weichai Unveiled Its Microgrid Solution

2026-07-24

On July 22, Weichai officially unveiled its microgrid solution at the Shandong Heavy Industry Global Partners Conference and Green Intelligent Products Exhibition. The solution addresses key industry pain points in special power-use scenarios, including unstable power supply, high energy consumption and high emissions, creating a new zero-carbon energy paradigm for global customers and supporting green transformation across the energy sector.

What is a microgrid?

A microgrid is a small integrated energy system that brings together source – grid – load – storage - control into a single architecture, forming a power supply and consumption network composed of green energy, energy storage, backup generating set, control system and electrical load. By integrating photovoltaic, wind power and traditional energy sources, it can operate in grid-connected operation with the main grid or provide standalone power supply independently, effectively improving energy efficiency. It is particularly well suited to special scenarios such as mines, islands and remote industrial parks, offering flexible and reliable power supply.

What does the Weichai microgrid solution deliver for customers?

Today, as global computing infrastructure accelerates, zero-carbon parks become more widespread, and intelligent transformation advances across remote industrial and mining sites, demand is rising for stable, low-carbon and efficient power supply solutions. Weichai has responded to these urgent market needs by deeply integrating photovoltaic, energy storage, storage and charging, SOFC, and generator sets powered by diesel, gas and heavy fuel oil, among other core equipment. The company addresses industry pain points including unstable power supply, high energy consumption and insufficient supporting facilities across a range of special scenarios, delivering customers a one-stop, deployable, closed-loop zero-carbon energy solution.

The launch marks Weichai’s broader move in the power and energy sector from a traditional energy solution provider to a higher-value model built around green energy system solution, full-domain services and ecosystem co-building.

Weichai also introduced five new products: the BPSDG-30-60 hybrid power station product with rated output power of 30 kW, the BPV-200 mobile photovoltaic product with installed capacity of 217 kW, the BESS-1000-2000 energy storage product with rated output power of 1,000 kW, the BPSC-1000-200 integrated storage-charging unit supporting charging power of 4 × 200 kW, and the WES600 SOFC power generation system.

What are the highlights of the dedicated power solution for mines?

With mining operations widely challenged by weak grid conditions, significant load fluctuation and high operating intensity, Weichai highlighted its energy solution for mining scenarios at the conference in response to these real-world needs.

Weichai’s microgrid solution for mines can intelligently switch power supply strategy based on operating periods at mining sites, enabling stable and efficient power use around the clock. During the day, it prioritizes photovoltaic and wind power, stores excess electricity in energy storage equipment, and automatically provides power replenishment from storage during peak power demand to stabilize grid voltage and frequency; At night, when photovoltaic shuts down, the system automatically switches to wind power, generator sets and energy storage for joint power assurance, enabling uninterrupted, high reliability standalone power supply. Compared with traditional power supply methods, the solution can reduce the levelized cost of electricity by 40% and deliver 90% carbon reduction, significantly improving power supply safety, reliability and fuel economy for mines.
