On July 3, 2026, Weichai Power's WP15 heavy-duty hydrogen internal combustion engine with in-cylinder direct injection passed the authoritative environmental emissions certification test, becoming the first product of its kind in China and the world to complete all core verifications at the China VI regulations level, laying a solid foundation for the zero-carbon commercialization deployment of heavy equipment.

The WP15 heavy-duty hydrogen internal combustion engine with in-cylinder direct injection passed rigorous tests under full work conditions. Its pollutant emissions are far superior to national standards, and its carbon dioxide emissions are near zero. Leveraging multiple self-developed technologies such as flexible in-cylinder direct injection, it achieves ultra-low emissions of nitrogen oxides and can be adapted to even stricter future environmental regulations with a simple aftertreatment system.

The overall performance of the WP15 heavy-duty hydrogen internal combustion engine with in-cylinder direct injection ranks in the first tier globally among engines of the same displacement class. With an engine displacement of 14.6 L, this test achieved a maximum power of 600 hp and a peak torque of 2,800 N·m; The engine reaches a maximum brake thermal efficiency of 46.8%, and over 90% of its parts are interchangeable with traditional fuel-powered models. It inherits the reliability and durability advantages of internal combustion engines and has loose requirements for hydrogen purity, effectively reducing end-user operating costs. It can be widely applied in various scenarios such as line-haul heavy trucks, mining, ports, and generator sets.
