The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently announced the results of its first batch of Excellence-Level Intelligent Factory projects. Four enterprises under Shandong Heavy Industry Group—Weichai Power, Shantui Construction Machinery, Fast Gear, and Hande Axle—were honored with this prestigious designation.
As part of its initiative to drive digital transformation and intelligent upgrades in the manufacturing industry, the MIIT launched the Intelligent Factory Gradation Program in 2024. This program established a four-tiered system for intelligent factory development: “Foundation level (municipal level); advanced level (provincial level); excellence level (national level); leadership level (global level).” The Excellence-Level designation represents a national benchmark in intelligent manufacturing, with 235 factories across the country included in this inaugural batch.
In recent years, Shandong Heavy Industry has made great progress in exploring and applying intelligent manufacturing technologies. By leveraging cutting-edge tools such as digital twins, machine vision, big data analytics, AI algorithms, intelligent online inspection, and key scenario data interconnection, the Group has achieved a closed-loop system for perception, execution, and decision-making. These advancements have driven a comprehensive upgrade in factory operations and information management, accelerating the Group’s transformation in digitalization, networking, and intelligent manufacturing.
